GAITHERSBURG, Md., November 12, 2007 -Sodexho, the leading provider of food and integrated facilities management services in North America, announced that it has been designated by Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine as one of the 2007 “Best Places for Minorities to Work.” Sodexho was selected for its overall commitment to workforce diversity. The company employs 1,800 people in the Atlanta area, who serve 150 clients.
To compile its list, the Atlanta Tribune examined how Georgia employers continuously enrich themselves, specifically through diversity awareness. They identified enterprises that have embraced the merits of inclusion and are subsequently reaping the benefits. According to the magazine, the U.S. Census Bureau reports that the minority population is projected to increase by eight percent over the next 20 years.
With that increase in mind, Sodexho weaves diversity and inclusion into the fabric of its daily operations, with innovative programs that are led and implemented from the highest executive ranks to the front lines of employees who provide service to more then ten million people every day. Diversity and inclusion is formalized at Sodexho through the Office of Diversity, the Diversity Leadership Council, the five affinity or employee Network Groups, diverse supplier program and Diversity Councils. Sodexho's success in leveraging the strength of its diverse workforce is demonstrated through its many awards and recognition - more than 25 earned in 2007.
