GAITHERSBURG, Md., November 7, 2007 - The Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) recently announced that Mohamood Bhatia, Sodexho Senior Vice President of Finance for Education, was selected as a recipient of the 2007 OCA National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Award. Bhatia was chosen both for his demonstrated corporate leadership and his commitment to the Asian Pacific American Community and the community at large.
Bhatia was instrumental in developing the Sodexho affinity group for Pan Asian managers (the Pan Asian Network Group), where he currently holds the position of Treasurer. He has provided ongoing leadership and guidance to the group over the past five years and was influential in rolling out several fundamental programs and initiatives that demonstrate his commitment to mentorship and training. Within his faith based community, Bhatia serves on a number of regional and national boards that explore ways to help first generation immigrants be successful both in business and corporate environments. Bhatia also serves as a corporate board member on the University of Central Florida's Data Mining Board.
According to Bhatia, “As a first generation immigrant, my community is of paramount importance to me. I believe in hard work and making progress, and I feel strongly about giving back - both to my company and my community, which have provided so many opportunities for me.”
The annual National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards are dedicated to celebrating and recognizing Asian Pacific Americans in the corporate sector who exemplify not only excellence in their profession, but also leadership and commitment in their respective communities, and to the existing corporate culture of diversity initiatives.
